The results are in for PETAs 2019 ranking of the top 10 vegan-friendly cities in the US and Detroit has landed a spot on the list, coming in at fifth place, thanks to its abundance of vegan twists on standard American fare.
"The number of American vegans grew by 600% in just three years, and the cities on PETA's list are meeting the skyrocketing demand for animal-friendly fare."
Vegan eats abound in Detroit, which is home to Detroit Vegan Soul, a city staple dishing up meals like its Catfish Tofu Sandwich and hearty Soul Platter, consisting of mac 'n' cheese, smoked collards, maple-glazed yams, black-eyed peas, and a cornbread muffin.
Those looking for something to eat on the go can swing by Rockys Road Brew, a vegan food truck slinging tacos heaped with fried chicken and other dishes.
Rounding out PETAs list are San Francisco; Los Angeles; New York City; Portland, Oregon; Orlando, Florida; Dallas; Nashville, Tennessee; Washington, D.C.; and Tulsa, Oklahoma.
