Ohio high school students fight for clemency for Port Huron man convicted in 1986 murder
Gretchen Whitmer -- a decision that forensic students in Ohio are questioning. Dasha and Ella are students at Oakwood High School in Dayton Ohio, they are studying forensic science. The students are taking an entry-level forensics class in high school. Dasha, Ella and their classmates have been sending letters to Whitmer, pleading for her to reconsider Kensuโs request for clemency. Gretchen Whitmer has turned down a request to release a man who insists he was wrongly convicted of murder in a college parking lot in Port Huron in 1986, his supporters said Monday. Whitmer spokeswoman Chelsea Parisio confirmed that Kensu's clemency request was denied. Kensuโs supporters include former U.S. Sen. Carl Levin. โIt's a big blow to his supporters and justice in Michigan that this miscarriage of justice continues to live on,โ Sanders said.

But Kensu was more than 400 miles away in the Upper Peninsula in the town of Escanaba with his ex-fiance Michelle Woodworth. In 2010, Judge Denise Hood overturned the conviction in a 52-page reversal and stating that the prosecuting attorney โengaged in misconduct by using a perjured testimonyโ.
