DETROIT – A large hole in the southbound lanes of the Interstate 75 Rouge River Bridge in Detroit had Wayne County road crews busy with repairs on Wednesday.
The hole was in the bridge deck and had to be cleaned out with a jackhammer before it could be set for new concrete, according to Michigan Department of Transportation spokeswoman Diane Cross.
"This is part of our roads needing major funding and the $1.2 billion a year that Gov. (Rick) Snyder is asking for ... because of these types of conditions," Cross said in a statement.
At least two of the southbound lanes were blocked Wednesday afternoon and evening while road crews worked to make the repair.
