Weekend closure:

Starting Friday night, construction will shut down westbound I-696, leaving all ramps between Lahser Road and the I-275/I-96/M-5 interchange closed between 9 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday.

Suggested detour:

A detour is offered from westbound I-696 to northbound M-10, then southbound US-24 near Telegraph Road to westbound M-5 and westbound I-96.

The construction is part of a $75 million investment to replace 88 lane miles of pavement on I-275. The project also includes concrete repairs on I-696 as well as 16 bridge repairs, drainage improvements, and intelligent transportation systems work.

Southbound I-275 will remain closed from the I-96/I-696/M-5 interchange to Five Mile Road until July.
