Michigan State Police vehicle involved in crash on I-96 near Fullerton in Detroit

DETROIT – A Michigan State Police trooper's vehicle was struck by another vehicle Friday morning while the trooper was investigating a crash on I-96 in Detroit.  

State police said the trooper was outside of the vehicle when it was struck on eastbound I-96 near Fullerton Avenue. No injuries were reported.

The police car caught fire after the crash, police said. The driver of the other vehicle, who police said is at-fault, was under investigation for possibly being under the influence of alcohol or drugs. 

However, in an update later Friday morning from state police said no alcohol was involved in the crash. The driver was cited for failure to move over for an emergency vehicle.
