Mental health crisis calls may soon be handled by trained specialists

People having a mental health crisis in Ypsilanti could soon have a trained specialist respond to the call, not police. City council just approved money for an unarmed response team, months after a 30-hour police standoff. Some community members say the man locked inside needed professional help. Local 4 spoke with a council member, who shared why this program was needed now and how it could look.
