Residents celebrate long-awaited sidewalk repairs across neighborhoods on Detroit’s west side

Detroit is repairing over 6,300 sidewalks across the city, prioritizing long-neglected neighborhoods on the west side. Residents, some of whom have waited up to five years, are seeing long-awaited improvements that enhance safety, accessibility, and quality of life. City officials, including Mayor Mary Sheffield and Public Works Director Ron Brundidge, emphasize the significance of these repairs for community well-being. All sidewalks on the backlog list are expected to be completed by year’s end, with new requests already being accepted for next season.
