‘We wanted to leave a legacy’: New Veterans Memorial in Trenton honors 250 years of service

Trenton’s new Veterans Memorial, rededicated after the city purchased VFW Post 1888’s land, honors 250 years of military service with statues representing Minutemen, modern soldiers, and children reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. The memorial includes benches with poignant quotes and the names of 61 local service members who made the ultimate sacrifice, as well as a blank monument for future remembrance. Veterans and the city collaborated on the project to leave a lasting legacy and educate future generations on the cost and fragility of freedom. The rededication follows Trenton’s Memorial Day parade, reinforcing the true meaning of the holiday.
