Bridge weight restriction cuts off residents from deliveries, trash pickup

No garbage trucks. No deliveries. Residents of Swan Island in Grosse Ile Township are cut off after the county dropped the bridge’s weight restriction from 33 tons to only three following a routine inspection. For perspective, three tons is about the weight of a full-size pickup truck, meaning commercial vehicles are off limits. Wayne County hopes to have a proposed plan of action next week.
