Oakland County voters reject regional school millage proposal to increase funding

Voters in Oakland County narrowly rejected a proposed property tax increase that would have provided additional funding for local public schools. The regional school millage failed at the ballot box, despite supporters arguing the measure would have helped districts increase resources for students and support teacher pay. The proposal would have cost homeowners an additional $1.50 per $1,000 of taxable home value and was expected to generate about $780 more per student each year for participating school districts.
