Sunnier Sunday, still cool

Highs in the mid, upper 60s

DETROIT – Sunshine returns Sunday, but it remains cool. No worries. Summer-like temps come back this week.

Sunday morning will be mostly clear, chilly and crisp. Temperatures will be in the 40s; upper 40s in Detroit and low 40s in its suburbs. Families going to services or heading outdoors to exercise will see their breath as they exhale. Jackets and knit hats will be needed to remain warm.

Sunday afternoon will be bright but cool. Highs will be in the middle and upper 60s; 5 to 10 degrees below average. Sunglasses and a jacket are reasonable pieces of attire for folks going to Universoul Circus at Chene Park in Detroit or the Old Car Festival at Greenfield Village in Dearborn.

Sunday evening will be fair and cool with temperatures in the 50s. Happy Rosh Hashanah! Sunset is at 7:49pm ET.

Sunday night becomes chilly, again, with clear skies and and new moon. Low temperatures will be in the 40s in Detroit's suburbs and near 50 degrees in the city.

Monday become milder with abundant sunshine. The Motown area will break 70 degrees with highs in the low 70s. Students can enjoy outdoor recess and suburb conditions for after school practice and activities. Sunset will be at 7:47pm ET.

More sunshine is coming mid-week with higher temperatures. Afternoon readings will be in the upper 70s on Tuesday (sunset 7:47pm ET). Wednesday and Thursday will have highs just above 80 degrees; 5 to 10 degrees above average. The next chance of rain is on Friday and Saturday.
