Heavy rains ahead for metro Detroit

DETROIT – Well we're pretty much problem free in the short term: Temperatures are close to average, winds are light and we can expect at least some sunshine early Tuesday. All this comes before a serious soaker moves in Tuesday night.

Overnight, expect partly cloudy skies with light winds. We'll stay dry with low temperatures right around 40 degrees.

On Tuesday, the daylight hours will remain dry, but clouds will be on the increase throughout the day. Highs again will be right around 60 degrees. Rain will roll in after sunset, becoming steady and heavy at times overnight. Lows overnight will be milder, near 50 degrees.

Steady rain continues through Wednesday morning, tapering to more scattered showers in the afternoon. Highs will be right around 60 degrees. We'll see another shot of steadier rain overnight into Thursday morning. Winds will increase as that second round of rain moves in and wind speeds will stay up during the day on Thursday.

Rainfall amounts from Tuesday night through Thursday morning will be 1-2 inches with some of the higher totals on the east side.

Right now, Halloween looks dry on Saturday but showers won't be far off, so stay with us through the week as we refine the forecast.
