Warming up across Metro Detroit

Temps headed to upper 80s

Metro Detroit will transition back to the steamy and warming weather trend starting today.

The morning hours are very nice in the low to mid 60s as you head out and limited cloud cover early on. Clouds and temps will be on the increase today as highs race into the upper 80s. We’d see some low 90s, but clouds will limited the effect of afternoon heating. Clouds are streaming from a warm and moist air mass to our south. There is a slight chance for rain and isolated rain and/or thundershowers through the late afternoon and evening… especially near the Ohio Border.

Wednesday will be the peak of our warming trend making Metro Detroit very warm and muggy. Highs will hit the low 90s and the heat index or ‘feels like’ temps will soar into the mid and maybe upper 90s. We always need to be watchful as this heat could spark an isolated shower or storm with increasing chances for a few soakers as we head into Thursday.

It will be a slightly unstable pattern Thursday through Saturday bringing hit or miss showers on and and off. This is not the kind of rain to erase our deficit, but some areas could see some brief, intense rains. Make sure you download the Local4Casters app with radar and storm updates, so you’re prepared all summer long.
