Metro Detroit weather: Rain expected later tonight

Cooler air sticks around

DETROIT – I love this time of year because we can get through some morning frost with temps in the 20s and 30s, and then full speed ahead into the 60s. Enjoy this midday sunshine as high and mid level clouds will be moving in by 3 or 4pm ahead of some rain in Metro Detroit Tuesday night.

The window for wet weather will be 9pm tonight to 4am Wednesday, but that's not it for the rain showers.

Wednesday forecast

Wednesday will be a dud of a day as we wake up to temps in the 50s and expect cooler air slowly working in taking us down into the 40s through most of tomorrow afternoon.

The winds will be cranking WSW 10-20 mph gusting 30-40 mph at times, and those winds will bring some lake enhanced rain showers on and off all day as a front, a disturbance rumbles through SE Lower Michigan.

Track the radar

Keep the umbrella handy and keep both hands on it before it becomes a Mary Poppins situation.

Blustery weather will be the focus around here Wednesday and Thursday.

Thursday forecast

Thursday starts cool with morning lows in the 30s to low 40s under mostly cloudy skies. We should get a decent mix of sun and clouds with gusty winds WNW 10-20 mph gusting 20-30 mph, and highs only in the low to mid 50s. Be patient because we bounce back with beautiful weather just in time for your weekend.

Friday forecast

A frosty start Friday with sunshine and highs eventually around 60°F to end the work and school week.

Weekend outlook

The weekend will warm into the mid or upper 60s both days with sun Saturday, and a shot at showers late, late Sunday. So we should have a mostly dry weekend and we may even take a shot at 70°F Sunday and Monday with some wet weather around.
