Here’s how long a heat advisory will be in effect for Metro Detroiters

Near-record high temperatures

DETROITA Heat Advisory is in effect for Detroit and all of Southeast Michigan until 8 p.m.

Welcome to Tuesday, Motown.

Dangerously hot and humid weather has returned to Detroit and all of southeast Michigan. Temperature soar to and beyond record territory this afternoon. It will feel even hotter when you factor in the humidity. Remember to stay cool and healthy and keep the people and pets you hold dear safe, as well.

It remains warm and muggy this evening and tonight. And a cold front moves through early tomorrow, bringing a slight chance of showers and a better chance of lowering the humidity.

Tuesday afternoon will be hot and humid. Temperature sore to the middle 90s. Today’s record high temperature is 96°F from 1933. There is a good chance of tying or breaking that record. Even if we don’t, it will feel hotter than that. Heat indices will be there at 100°F. Remember to reduce the amount of strenuous outdoor activities, stay hydrated with water, wear light and loose-fitting clothes, stay in or near air-conditioned areas and keep children and pets away from empty vehicles.

Tuesday evening continues to be hot and muggy. Temperatures will be there near 90°F, and it will feel like it’s in the middle 90s before sunset.

Sunset is at 9:13 p.m.

Heat indices will still be in the 80s tonight under fair skies before midnight. Remember to check on neighbors and make sure you’re home and well ventilated before going to bed. There is a slight chance of a shower or two early Wednesday morning. It remains warm overnight with low temperatures in the 70s.

Wednesday

Wednesday will be hot and become mostly sunny. The frontal passage will make it less humid by the afternoon. So, we will be baking instead of sweltering. Continue to take action and stay cool during the day.

Thursday

Thursday will be mostly sunny and very warm. It will not be as hot with high temperatures near 85°F.

Friday

Friday will be mostly partly sunny and a bit hotter. Daytime temperatures reach the upper 80s.

Weekend forecast

Saturday will be an excellent day to head to the beach or to the pool. Afternoon temperatures reach 90°F or a bit more under mostly sunny skies.

Sunday will have early morning showers, and it will be very warm for the second half of the day. Highs will be in the middle 80s.

Excellent weather will be here during the day and at night for the 2022 Ford fireworks. As people gather, grill, and set up lawn chairs and blankets on Belle Isle and along the Detroit River in both the Detroit and Windsor, it will be mostly sunny with daytime temperatures in the low 80s. The mercury will fall to the 70s under fair skies when the sun sets and the first fireworks launch.
