Here’s when to expect dangerously hot temperatures before start of summer in Metro Detroit

High temps near a record Tuesday

DETROIT – Welcome to Monday, Motown.

A warm front moves completely through Southeast Michigan by nightfall. Tonight will be mild and a bit more humid. It becomes a lot more humid tomorrow as temperatures soar to record-breaking territory. The day after tomorrow is another scorcher. It becomes less humid and remains warmer than average by the end of our shortened work week.

Monday night will be partly cloudy, mild and a bit more humid. Overnight lows will be in the 60s.

Astronomical summer begins at 5:13 a.m., Tuesday. Sunrise is at 5:57 a.m.

Tuesday

Tuesday will be hazy, hot and humid. Temperatures soar to the middle 90s. The record high temperature is 96 degrees from 1933, and we have a good chance of tying or breaking it. Heat indices will be hazardous and skyrocket to the triple digits; 100 to 105 degrees or more. We must drink plenty of water, limit any outdoor physical activity and stay in or near air conditioned areas to remain cool and healthy. Remember your sun block to protect from the Sun’s harmful rays, too.

Sweltering weather remains Tuesday night and Wednesday. Wednesday morning lows will be in the 70s with heat indices in the 80s much of the previous night. Daytime temperatures climb to the low 90s to near 95 degrees with heat indices near and above 100 degrees.

Wednesday

A weak cold front or trough of low pressure moves through late Wednesday into early Thursday morning. There is only a slight chance of showers Wednesday night. This crossing of this boundary mainly drops temperatures slightly and the humidity greatly for the rest of the week.

Thursday

Thursday will be mostly sunny and not as hot or humid. Highs will be near 85 degrees, which is still above average.

Friday

Friday will be sunny and hot with more tolerable humidity. Still keep children and pets away from empty vehicles. Highs will be in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees.

Weekend forecast

Saturday and Sunday will have great weather for going to the pool or the beach. It will be mostly sunny and hot with highs in the upper 80s and low 90s.
