Tracking rain, return to cold: What to expect in Metro Detroit

Friday highs in the 60s

4Warn Weather – We’re waking up to temperatures that will have you doing a double take at the calendar.

Today’s sunrise is at 7:38 a.m.

Our Friday morning starts off on either side of 50 degrees. Highs will soar into the low 60s this afternoon.

This is more on par with what we should be feeling in mid- to late April.

Clouds will decrease on this “finally Friday.” we’ll have gusty winds that could peak around 35 mph out of the south.

When you pair the southerly winds with sunshine, we will likely crush the current record high of 56 degrees that was set back in 2001.

Tonight’s sunset is at 5:58 p.m.

Rain overnight into Saturday

Tonight we have a chance for a few scattered showers passing through after midnight, but those will be out before sunrise on Saturday morning.

Returning to colder temps

Cooler air will begin to fill back in this weekend.

Temperatures will stay rather steady on Saturday as we start in the low 40s and top out in the upper 40s.

Highs on Sunday will be in the low 40s.

We’ll start to gradually cool more next week with seasonal 30s for highs by the end of the work week, but a rather calm forecast otherwise.

Elsewhere ...

Nationally, low pressure system crossing the northern Plains will continue to pump in snow and gusty winds through the northern Rockies. Several upper level disturbances will cause periods of heavy snow across the mountains of southern California into the Southwest and southern Rockies into the weekend.
