Blustery with flurries in Metro Detroit as warmup awaits

Small craft advisory in effect for part of Lake Huron

It will be blustery Saturday night, Feb. 17, 2024, with wind chill values in the single digits, but air temperatures will warm into 40s to near 50 degrees next week. (WDIV)

The blustery conditions will continue into Saturday night and Sunday, but warmer weather is in the forecast.

A small craft advisory will be in effect for the nearshore waters of Lake Huron until 4 p.m. Sunday from Harbor Beach to Port Huron. The advisory will last until 10 p.m. Sunday for Saginaw Bay.

Sunday

Metro Detroit will have a mix of clouds and sunshine Sunday. Flurries will be possible across the area, but the better chance will be in the Thumb. Temperatures will rebound with highs near 40 degrees, but breezy conditions will keep the wind chill values in the 20s. Westerly winds will be 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

Monday

Washington’s Birthday, or Presidents’ Day, will bring more sunshine and less wind. It will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy. Highs will be around 40 degrees. Southerly winds will be 5 to 10 mph.

Milder air will flow into the area for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Expect highs in the mid 40s to lower 50s. While Tuesday will be partly cloudy, rain showers will be possible Wednesday. Cooler weather will be in store for the end of the week.
