Another warmup on the way: What to expect in Metro Detroit

Frigid temps shifting back above average

4Warn Weather – We’ll have a mix of sun and clouds with a few flurries north of I-69 on this Thursday.

Our morning begins sharply colder with temperatures on either side of 20 degrees and wind chills in the single digits.

Skies will become sunny across Southeast Michigan this afternoon. Brisk westerly winds linger at 10-20 mph, keeping the feels-like temperatures about 10 degrees cooler than the air temperatures throughout the day.

Highs will be slightly below average in the upper 30s this afternoon, but the cold snap is short-lived.

Tonight’s sunset is at 6:23 p.m.

Warming up, again

A new warming trend begins Friday through the weekend. Afternoon temperatures will warm into the upper 40s Friday, 50s on Saturday, and 60s on Sunday.

Now is a good time to get the car washed, since we’ll stay relatively dry until our next best chance for rain arrives next Tuesday.

Ahead of that rain, we could possibly reach 70 degrees on Monday before cooling down with the rain through the middle of next week.

Elsewhere ...

Nationally, another significant winter storm is expected to last through the weekend along the west coast.
