When to expect rain Friday, this weekend in Metro Detroit

Showers likely all day Friday, parts of Sunday

4Warn Weather – Charge up your devices if you live in an area prone to power outages. Winds will be whipping with widespread rain today -- so don’t forget the umbrella, either.

Our Friday will be damp and dreary with chilly temperatures. High temperatures will be around 50 degrees, but will feel like the 30s and low 40s due to the wind.

A wind advisory is in effect from 8 a.m. Friday until midnight. Northwest wind gusts will peak at 45-50 mph.

Rain will be steady and widespread throughout the morning. Widespread showers will continue into the afternoon, though some in our southernmost areas could see a break in the rain around 3 p.m.

Rain will remain widespread through most of the afternoon, affecting the evening rush hour drive. Showers will begin pushing off to the east in the evening, and should move out by 8 p.m. for most.

Tonight’s sunset is at 8:12 p.m.

Cloud cover will clear out tonight.

Sunny, then more rain chances

Clearing skies overnight will tee us up for sunshine on Saturday. Plan for a warmer and windy weekend ahead.

Saturday will be sunny with highs in the 60s. Conditions will be breezy.

Sunday skies will be partly cloudy with a few small rain chances, but certainly not a washout. We could get a splash of rain in the late morning, and again in the evening. Highs will be in the 70s.

We’ll stay on either side of 70 degrees for highs next week, with a few shower chances through midweek.

Elsewhere ...

Nationally, a potent low pressure system will produce gusty winds and heavy rain across parts of the Great Lakes, Ohio Valley, and Northeast on Friday. Rain and mountain snow is expected in California on Saturday. Well above-average temperatures surge into the Plains this weekend.
