DETROIT – Buckle up! We are on a weather rollercoaster ride. It’s a chilly start to this Monday morning, but don’t let that fool you.
We are kickstarting a warming trend for the first half of the week. This brings temperatures up into the lower 40s today and to near 50 Tuesday. We could possibly see a few scattered rain showers after sunset tonight.
Rain coming in Tuesday
Rain becomes more widespread for the morning rush hour drive on Tuesday. Highs will be on either side of 50. As a warm front pushes through the region late Tuesday, periods of rain will return Tuesday night through Wednesday and even warmer air will advect into the area.
Rain into snow later this week
Grab the umbrella! Rainy and windy with highs in the mid to upper 50s. A transition from rain to snow occurs Wednesday night into Thursday morning as cold air is driven back in by northwesterly winds gusting near 40 mph.
A look at the rest of the week
Conditions improve quickly during Thursday as the associated low pressure system exits the Great Lakes, but breezy. We could see a few more snowflakes mix with rain on Friday, but we will be fine-tuning that part of the forecast as we get closer to week’s end. The end of the week and weekend will bring more seasonal highs in the 40s.
