DETROIT – Storm chances return to Metro Detroit later this week.
Monday
Coming off of a beautiful weekend, a warming trend continues today into tomorrow with highs in the 80s.
Expect a mix of sun and clouds throughout Monday, with a slight chance of an isolated afternoon pop-up shower.
Tuesday and Wednesday
More clouds mix in tomorrow with late-day shower chances. Heat and humidity will lead to stronger thunderstorm chances by late Wednesday. There is a slight (Level 2 out of 5) chance for severe weather late Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night.
All threats are on the table including damaging wind gusts, large hail and an isolated tornado. We also will have a marginal risk for excessive rainfall Wednesday and Wednesday night that could lead to isolated flooding.
Rest of this week
We will round out the week with minimal rain chances and highs around 80. The summer solstice is Friday which marks the first official day of summer and right on cue, we will crank up the heat this weekend with highs on either side of 90!
