After plenty of sunshine throughout the holiday weekend, we’re expecting the sunshine to continue as we work throughout the start of the abbreviated holiday week.
High pressure will continue to control the forecast through the start of next week on Monday. Mostly sunny skies can be expected both days, and we will continue with a gradual warming trend into early next week. High temperatures into the upper 70s on Sunday, and Monday will warm into the lower 80s by the time we get to Tuesday.
The sunshine will continue for Tuesday and a part of Wednesday, before our next system moves into the region, bringing chances for rain showers for most everyone. That system looks to move in late Wednesday night and into Thursday. High temperatures warming into the low 80s by the time we get to Wednesday afternoon.
Once that frontal boundary moves through on Thursday, we will drop temperatures back to below-average territory once again with another cool blast of air coming in from Canada for the end of next week and the first weekend in September. High temperatures will only make it into the mid-60s by the time we get to Thursday and into next Friday.
We will keep some cloud cover into the forecast for Friday, mostly cloudy skies can be expected before we break into more sunshine by the time we get to the start of next weekend on Saturday. High temperatures remaining in the upper 60s by the time we get to Saturday.
A mixture of sunshine and clouds can be expected looking ahead into the end of next weekend, with the cooler than average temperatures sticking around. High temperatures remaining in the mid to upper 60s by next Sunday.
The below average trend for temperatures will stick around into the first part of September. The Climate Prediction Center’s 6-10 Day Temperature Outlook continues to show below average temperatures for the Eastern 2/3rd of the United States, which includes Metro Detroit, all the way through Sept. 10. So, keep the jackets and the hoodies handy, we’re going to need them for a bit!
