Warm, sunny weather is in the forecast for Metro Detroit
4Warn Weather – The beautiful run of late-summer weather is holding firm across Metro Detroit.
Thursday night’s skies will be mostly clear, but patchy fog will be possible in some locations overnight.
Lows will range from 50 to 55 degrees in most communities.
Temperatures are expected to fall to around 50 degrees in Adrian, Ann Arbor, Flint, Lapeer, and Sandusky.
It will be in the mid-50s in Livonia, Dearborn, Farmington Hills, Berkley, and Center Line.
Friday
Any fog Friday morning is expected to dissipate by 9 a.m. Temperatures will be in the 50s to 60 degrees during the morning commute.
By mid-afternoon, temperatures will peak around the lower-80s in most locations, except highs in the upper-70s near Lake Huron and Lake Erie.
Northeasterly winds around 5 mph will suppress temperatures in coastal communities. It will be mostly sunny and warm.
Conditions will be excellent for Local 4’s High School Game of the Week between Rochester Adams and West Bloomfield.
This Weekend
Looking ahead to the weekend, highs are forecast to reach the lower 80s on Saturday and the lower to mid-80s on Sunday.
There will be a mix of sun and clouds over the weekend, but Saturday evening might bring a stray shower around sunset.
Most spots are expected to remain dry, which makes for a great opportunity to enjoy the outdoors.
Lake water temperatures and algal bloom warnings
Spending time at the lake? Warm water temperatures and lots of sunshine promote algal blooms, such as algae impacting part of Lake St. Clair’s shore.
If you notice algal blooms, it is best to stay out of the water until conditions improve.
Next Week: Above-normal warmth expected to continue
The forecast shows no sign of the 80s leaving anytime soon. Daytime highs are expected to run above normal for at least the next week.
Temperatures would typically average in the mid-70s this time of year, but Metro Detroit is looking at a steady string of days in the lower- to mid-80s.
Overnight lows will mainly be in the 50s, which is near-normal for September. The overall trend points to more summer-like weather.
The forecast is also shaping up favorably for the next Detroit Lions home game. Get ready for comfortable tailgating.
