4Warn Weather – After a rainy and breezy Thursday, we are finally shaking off the showers as drier air moves in.

Most of southeast Michigan will dip into the mid-30s to around 40 degrees overnight, with patchy clouds and a chilly northwest breeze.

By Friday morning, skies will be clearing, but the wind is not done with us yet.

Friday — Breezy and Cool Trick-or-Treat Weather

Halloween will bring a fall chill, but also some sunshine peeking through the clouds.

Expect highs in the lower- to mid-50s, with a west-northwest wind at 10 to 15 mph and howling gusts up to 30 mph.

So, you will feel that breeze, especially if you are wearing a lighter costume.

By trick-or-treat time Friday evening, temps will hover in the upper-40s to 50 degrees, with dry conditions across Metro Detroit.

It will be a crisp, classic fall evening. Winds will still be gusting up to 25 mph. So, you will feel that breeze, especially if you are wearing a lighter costume. Just grab a jacket or layer under that costume.

Detroit’s average Halloween high is 56 degrees and the average low is 40 degrees. (WDIV)

For context, Detroit’s average Halloween high is 56 degrees, and the average low is 40 degrees.

So, temperatures are running near normal. Fun fact: the warmest Halloween on record hit 79 degrees in 1933 and 1950. Two years ago, we saw 0.2 inches of snow on Halloween.

Weekend Outlook — A Mix of Clouds, Chill, and Wind

Saturday keeps the breeze, but it only brings a slight chance of a stray shower. Highs will stay in the lower-50s.

Sunday morning marks the end of Daylight Saving Time.

We will “fall back” one hour at 2 a.m. Later in the day, skies will be partly cloudy with afternoon highs again in the lower- to mid-50s.

Looking ahead, early next week looks milder and drier with highs in the upper-50s and sunshine with a few clouds for much of the week.

It will be a great stretch to rake leaves, clean up, or take down Halloween decorations.

Hurricane Melissa Nears Bermuda

Far from the United States, Hurricane Melissa continues racing northeast in the Atlantic.

As of Thursday evening, Melissa packed maximum sustained winds near 105 mph with higher gusts, moving at around 30 mph to the northeast.

The storm was situated about 300 miles southwest of Bermuda, where a Hurricane Warning was in effect.

Conditions there will deteriorate tonight with hurricane-force winds possible before Melissa transitions into a powerful post-tropical system on Friday.

Swells from Melissa are generating dangerous surf and rip currents along Bermuda, the Bahamas, and parts of the U.S. East Coast.

The system will accelerate into the open Atlantic this weekend.
