Metro Detroit will see a stretch of milder temperatures heading into the weekend, while communities across the Thumb stay noticeably cooler. Quiet weather dominates through Friday before rain chances return briefly on Saturday.
Skies turn partly to mostly cloudy Thursday night, with lows ranging from the upper-20s to the lower-30s. The colder temperatures will be near Ann Arbor, Flint, and the Thumb.
Friday: Clouds early, brighter afternoon
Friday starts mostly cloudy but gradually becomes sunny. Highs across Metro Detroit will climb into the lower- to mid-50s, while the Thumb tops out in the upper-40s to 50 degrees. Winds will lighten through the day.
Clouds increase again Friday night, with lows in the mid-30s north to upper-30s south.
Saturday: Warmest day, slight afternoon rain chance
Saturday brings the mildest air of the stretch. Metro Detroit rises to around 60 degrees, while the Thumb stays cooler with highs in the lower- to mid-50s.
A system moving in from the west brings a slight chance of rain, mainly after 1 p.m. Winds shift from the south to the west. Gusts will approach 25 mph.
Expect similar conditions in East Lansing. Michigan State will host Penn State at Spartan Stadium for a 3:30 p.m. game. Afternoon tailgaters should plan on warm temperatures near 60 degrees and the low chance of a spotty shower. Otherwise, it will be cloudy and breezy.
Sunday turns cooler
Behind Saturday’s system, temperatures drop back into more November-like territory.
Sunday looks mostly sunny with highs in the mid-40s. Overnight lows fall into the mid-20s to lower-30s.

After a mild weekend, a stretch of quiet, cool weather ensues:
- Monday: Mostly sunny to partly cloudy, with highs in the lower- to mid-40s.
- Tuesday: Mostly sunny to partly sunny, with highs in the lower- to mid-40s.
- Wednesday: Mostly cloudy, with highs in the mid- to upper-40s.
Nights and early mornings will be cold early next week, dipping into the mid-20s to lower-30s.
