After a quiet start to the week and the weather department, we’ve got a very active weather forecast on the way through the rest of the week and into the upcoming weekend as well.

Rain showers move through the region overnight Tuesday night in the early morning on Wednesday, and with colder air moving in throughout the day, rain showers will change over to snow showers by late Wednesday morning and into Wednesday afternoon. We’ve already hit our high temperature for the day of the upper 40s and lower 50s after midnight, and expect falling temperatures throughout the entire day on Wednesday.

Air temperatures will be into the 30s late Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday evening, but once you factor in the winds, wind chill values will be into the teens to possibly lower 20s late Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday evening.

The winds will be an issue throughout the next few days due to strong wind gusts. A Wind Advisory is in effect for all of Southeastern Michigan until 4:00 AM Thanksgiving morning. This is for wind gusts in excess of 45 to possibly 50 MPH throughout much of the day on Wednesday and into Thursday morning.

Expect snow showers to continue Wednesday night and throughout much of the day on Thursday. Most places could see 1 to possibly 2 inches of snow through late Thursday night. The areas that will see the highest snowfall totals will be in areas that she repeated rounds of snow showers throughout the next 24 to 36 hours. Overnight lows Wednesday night and Thursday morning will drop into the upper 20s, and with the snow showers continuing, we could have some slick spots late Wednesday night through the overnight and throughout much of the day on Thursday.

High temperatures will only make it into the load of mid-30s by Thursday afternoon, but once you factor in the gusty winds continuing, windshields will be much colder than the actual air temperature on Thanksgiving.

Expect the snow showers to wind down late Thursday night, and it will be another cold overnight with overnight lows dropping into the 20s for everybody.

We will keep the cloud cover in the forecast, looking ahead into the end of the week on Friday, high temperatures warming into the low to mid 30s by Friday afternoon. But the weather pattern gets active once again, looking ahead into the upcoming weekend.

The cloud cover sticks around the start of the day on Saturday, before snow moves back into the region, Saturday afternoon into Saturday evening, and sticks around into the end of the weekend on Sunday. As temperatures warm into the mid-30s on Sunday, we may see a changeover to a mix of rain and snow showers before going back over to snow showers or a wintry mix Sunday night.

There is the potential for snow accumulation as we look ahead into the start of the weekend on Saturday, but it is still too early to pin down where and how much snow we may see, but the latest data is trending that way. We will continue to fine-tune that part of the forecast into the end of the week.

Snow showers will remain in the forecast, looking ahead into the start of next week on Monday. High temperatures remain below the freezing mark into the lower 30s, before we dry things out and keep the cloud cover around, looking ahead into next Tuesday. Expect temperatures to get even colder, with high temperatures into the upper-20s by next Tuesday.
