After plenty of cloud cover working throughout the day on Saturday, we broke into a little bit of clearing late Saturday night, overnight into Sunday morning. We are expecting Sunshine as we work throughout the day on Sunday, but that will come after a very frigid start on Sunday morning.
As you’re waking up on Sunday morning, air temperatures are in the single digits to near zero for everybody, but once you factor in the wind, wind chills are running anywhere between 0 to -15° across all of southeastern Michigan. This kind of cold can cause frostbite in 15 minutes or less if you go outside without the proper winter gear.
We do break into some sunshine by the end of the weekend on Sunday, but the clouds increase as we look ahead to the start of next week on Monday and Tuesday. Mostly cloudy skies are expected both days, and we start to warm up a bit. High temperatures warming into the mid-20s on Monday, heading into the upper 20s to lower 30s by Tuesday.
That warming trend continues, looking ahead into the middle of next week on Wednesday. But we will bring in the chance of rain showers by Wednesday afternoon and evening. High temperatures continue to warm up, heading into the mid to upper 30s by Wednesday afternoon.
The rain showers will stick around the forecast looking ahead into Thursday. The warming trend in the forecast will continue into the middle of the week as well. High temperatures will soar into the lower 40s by Thursday afternoon. After the cold front moves through the region, this will change the rain over to rain and snow showers as we work into late Thursday night.
Behind that front boundary, we will keep the chance of snow showers in the forecast by the end of the week on Friday, thanks to a northwesterly flow kicking back in. High temperatures dropping into the upper 20s to right around 30° by the end of the week on Friday, but once you factor in the winds, we are expecting wind chills to be much colder than the air temperature by the end of the week.
Expect mostly cloudy skies to stick around looking heading into the start of next weekend on Saturday. Temperatures will start to warm up once again by the start of the weekend. Expect high temperatures to warm into the upper 30s to near 40° by the time we get to Saturday afternoon.
