4Warn Weather – Rain will become heavy at times Thursday evening as a powerful cold front moves through Metro Detroit.
Temps remain above freezing until after midnight.
A sharp shift in wind direction from the south to the west will usher in some very cold temps, leading to a refreeze of water on roads, sidewalks, and other surfaces.
Winds will gust over 35mph at times Thursday night and Friday.
This will help dry out some of the moisture before it freezes, but it likely won’t be enough to keep us from slippery, untreated roads on the morning commute.
Snow showers could put down up to an inch of snow by 9 a.m. Friday, then just flurries, wind, and cold for the rest of the day.
Weekend forecast
Saturday and Sunday will be a bit easier for travel, with highs in the upper 30s on Saturday and around 27 degrees on Sunday.
