Sunshine to start the weekend before warmer temperatures arrive by early next week in Metro Detroit

A light coating of snow could bring slick spots out the door on Saturday Morning

Plenty of sunshine moves into the region looking ahead into the start of the weekend on Sunday (WDIV)

4Warn WeatherSATURDAY: Mostly sunny skies. High: 44.

SATURDAY NIGHT: Increasing clouds, skies becoming mostly cloudy. Low: 34.

SUNDAY: Mostly cloudy skies. High: 57.

SUNDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy skies. Low: 44.

MONDAY: Mostly cloudy skies. High: 64.

After a dry end of the weekend, a week disturbance rolled through overnight last night into early this morning and has left a light coating of snow in most locations. With temperatures well below the freezing mark, this could leave a few slick spots as you’re waking up and heading out the door on Saturday morning.

High pressure will control the forecast to start the weekend on Saturday, which means we will see plenty of sunshine working through the day. But with a northwesterly flow continuing, we will keep the chilly temperatures around throughout the day as well. High temperature is a warm into the mid 40s by Saturday afternoon.

Expect clouds to increase overnight Saturday night and early on Sunday morning. Mostly cloudy skies can be expected, and it will be another cold night as well. Overnight low is dropping into the low to mid-30s by early Sunday morning.

We will keep the cloud cover in the forecast through the end of the weekend and the start of next week on Monday. But a southerly flow will start to warm things up over the next few days as well. Expect high temperatures to warm into the upper 50s by Sunday afternoon, then into the middle 60s by the time we get to Monday.

Rain showers will return to the forecast late Monday night, and we’ll also bring in the chance for a few thunderstorms Monday night and into Tuesday as well. That southerly flow will continue to warm things up by Tuesday. Expect high temperatures to go well above average, into the lower 70s by Tuesday afternoon.

Once that cold front rolls through the region, we are looking at a series of disturbances that will roll through the region, keeping the forecast on the active side of things through the end of next week. Chances for rain will remain in the forecast Wednesday all the way through Friday, with high temperatures into the upper 40s and lower 50s into the second half of next week as well.
