After a little bit of sunshine throughout the day on Monday, which sent our high temperature soaring well into the 70s by Monday afternoon, we’re tracking a few thunderstorms on the radar early Tuesday morning. And I am expecting more showers and thunderstorms, some strong to possibly severe Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday evening.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed the region under a Slight Risk (2 out of 5) on our severe weather scale as we work through the day on Tuesday. Damaging winds above 60 MPH, as well as large hail, will be the primary threats, along with heavy rainfall tonight and into Tuesday. But, once we get to Tuesday afternoon and evening, there will be enough shear in the lowest few miles of the atmosphere that we may have enough “spin” to have the chance of an isolated tornado.

Once that cold front rolls through the region, we are looking at a series of disturbances that will roll through the region, keeping the forecast on the active side of things through the end of next week. Chances for rain will remain in the forecast on Wednesday all the way through Friday.

We do bring the chance of thunderstorms back into the forecast by the time we get to Thursday thanks to another area of low pressure working into the region. The Storm Prediction Center has placed areas west of Metro Detroit under a Slight Risk (2 out of 5) on our severe weather scale. Damaging winds and heavy rainfall look to be the primary threat as we head into the end of the week.

After we cool things down on Wednesday, temperatures dropping into the 40s behind the cold front, we will see temperatures rebound fast after that. Expect high temperatures into the 60s on Thursday, then lower 70s by Friday for the Detroit Tigers Opening Day. We will keep the chance of rain showers in the forecast as we look ahead into the end of the week.

We’ll keep the chance of rain showers in the forecast looking ahead into the start of Easter Weekend on Saturday. High temperatures are warming up again, back into the mid-60s by Saturday afternoon.

Cooler air works into the region by the time we get to the end of the weekend and the start of next week. Expect daytime highs only into the 50s by the time we get to Easter Sunday, and those high temperatures will remain into the 50s looking ahead into the start of next week. Dryer weather finally moves back into the region by the time we get to the start of next week, with a mixture of sunshine and clouds by Monday.
