Metro Detroit sees multiple rounds of rain to start April, forecast calls for more

4Warn Weather – It’s been a rainy first week of April across Southeast Michigan.

The last month has brought a surplus of moisture across the Great Lakes.

The rainy stretch has caused many local rivers and streams to run high, triggering dozens of flood watches and warnings across the state. Especially when adding in March 31, most of the Lower Peninsula has picked up 2 to 4 inches of rainfall over the past week.

Here’s a look at general totals across Michigan for the last seven days.

Closer to home, some of our rainfall totals in our northern communities were closer to three or four inches, if not higher.

April 2: Light rain, 0.21″ precipitation

April 3: Rain, 0.02″ precipitation

April 4: Heavy rain, 0.66″ precipitation

April 6: Light snow, 0.01″ precipitation/Trace snow

April 7: Dry/Sunshine

For Detroit, we’re now 0.33″ above normal (0.78″) for the month for precipitation.

After seeing more sun Wednesday, the forecast calls for rain Thursday morning and Friday.
