Frost Advisory in effect this morning for parts of SE Michigan, warmer weekend ahead

Periodic, isolated rain chances linger through the weekend.

A chilly start across portions of Southeast Michigan this morning as a Frost Advisory remains in effect until 8 a.m. for all counties except Macomb, Wayne and Monroe. Clouds overnight have helped keep some areas from dipping into the 30s, but folks in colder inland areas may wake up to patchy frost, especially in low-lying and rural locations and areas north of I-69. Sensitive plants and early-season vegetation could be vulnerable to damage.

We will stay cool and mostly dry today, but breezy with gusts upward of 20mph. High temperatures are expected to remain below average, with many communities only reaching the mid to upper 50s. While sunshine will break through at times early, clouds are expected to increase with a few isolated showers possible during the afternoon and linger into the early overnight hours. However, not everyone will see a shower today and tonight.

A gradual warming trend begins Friday as temperatures rebound into the 60s across the region. Skies will remain partly cloudy and while much of the day looks dry, a few overnight showers may develop mainly south of the Detroit metro area late Friday night.

The warmest weather of the stretch arrives Saturday, bringing a more active pattern with it. Afternoon highs are expected to climb to around 70. Timing has moved up with the frontal passage, now favored Saturday afternoon which will allow for showers and storms to develop during that time. Behind the front, drier and a cooler conditions build in to close out the weekend, so plan for partly sunny skies and highs in the low 60s on Mother’s Day.

Unsettled pattern continues early next week as highs will be on either side of 60 degrees through midweek.
