CANTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – For families looking to stock their kids’ closets for the upcoming school year, thrift shopping can help them save big — and do some good at the same time.
We visited the Salvation Army Family Store in Canton Township ahead of National Thrift Shop Day on August 17 to see what kind of deals are being offered.
Among the finds were several brand-name kids’ shirts priced at $2, along with gently used and even new items for $4.
Megan Dietz is the Director of Retail Operations for the Salvation Army Southeast Michigan Adult Rehabilitation Center. Beyond the savings, she says there’s also a sense of pride that comes with snagging a unique outfit.
“I have a three-year-old. I love when I’m out and about, and family and friends are like, ‘I love her style, I love her outfit.’ And I get to say, ‘I thrifted it,” Dietz said.
Proceeds from Salvation Army stores support the organization’s Adult Rehabilitation Center in Detroit. For updates and more information from the Salvation Army thrift stores in Southeast Michigan, click here.
