After some sunshine and some strongest of your thunderstorms on Tuesday, we have kept a few thunderstorms under the forecast overnight, and our storm chance is along with extreme heat are into the forecast, looking ahead into the middle of the week.
A Heat Advisory is an effect for areas along and south of I-696 from 12:00 PM-8:00 PM on Wednesday due to the extreme heat in the forecast. High temperatures will warm into the lower 90s, but once you factor in the humidity, heat index values will warm into the upper 90s to around 100° by late Wednesday afternoon and early Wednesday evening.
We will also keep the chance of a few thunderstorms into the forecast as well, some of those could be strong to severe in the afternoon an early evening hours. Damaging winds, hail and heavy rainfall will be the primary threats, as majority of the region remain remains under a Marginal Risk (1 out of 5) for force severe weather on Wednesday.
The threat for severe weather increasing significantly, looking ahead into the day on Thursday. The Storm Prediction Center has placed part of the region west of Metro Detroit under an Enhanced Risk (3 out of 5) for severe weather on Thursday, while the rest of the region remains under a Slight Risk (2 out of 5) on our severe weather scale. All modes of severe weather will be possible on Thursday, but damaging winds will be the highest threat working through late Thursday afternoon and Thursday evening.
The heat will be sticking around throughout the day on Thursday as well. High temperatures warm back into the lower 90s by the afternoon, but once you factor in the humidity, expect heat index values to go back into the upper 90s to around 100°.
Once the strong front around your moose of the region late Thursday night, we will dry things out by the end of the week and start of the weekend. Cooler changes work into the region by the end of the week as well. High temperatures will drop into the 80s for Friday, and through the weekend, before more chances of a few storms return and temperatures get even cooler, dropping into the upper 70s by the time we get to early next week.
