4Warn Weather – Wednesday night is turning increasingly unsettled across Southeast Michigan as scattered showers and thunderstorms gradually work their way into the region.
During the evening, the heaviest showers remained west and north of Metro Detroit as a few showers made their way across the northern suburbs.
That will eventually change.
The broken line of showers and thunderstorms will continue to drift southeastward Wednesday night as a slow-moving cold front approaches the region.
Additional scattered showers may develop overnight, although the steadier and more widespread rainfall appears more likely to arrive during the overnight hours and continue into Thursday.
The atmosphere remains relatively stable, which should limit the threat of strong storms, but some storms could still produce gusty winds and brief heavy rain.
Thursday and Friday
Thursday remains the wettest day of the next several days, although rain is not expected to fall continuously from morning to night.
Instead, periods of showers and thunderstorms will alternate with periods of dry weather.
It looks like the chance of thunderstorms will increase during the evening.
High temperatures are expected to reach the upper 70s and lower 80s Thursday before climbing back into the mid 80s on Friday.
Looking Ahead
The unsettled pattern is expected to persist into the weekend and even into the beginning of next week.
Despite the possibility of a few showers over the weekend, it will be mostly dry.
Temperatures throughout the period should remain seasonably warm, with highs generally holding in the lower to mid 80s.
