Cold, snow remains Friday, this weekend

Wind less severe

DETROIT – Friday will be frigid and snowy.  Although it will be less windy than Thursday, morning wind chills will be near zero as the air temperature falls into the low teens.  Friday afternoon will be in the upper teens.  Scattered snow showers will fall during the day with no heavy accumulation, but enough of a coating to make streets and sidewalks slippery.

Friday night will be even colder with lows near 5 and subzero wind chills by Saturday morning.  Snow squalls remain in the forecast on Groundhog Day Saturday with highs in the low 20s and Super Bowl Sunday with highs in the middle and upper 20s.  New Orleans will be in the 60s outside the Superdome.
