ANN ARBOR – The Ann Arbor Downtown Development Authority will be hosting Bikeapalooza on May 22 from noon to 2 p.m. at the old Y Lot.

The event is a community celebration of the progress of the city’s protected bikeways, according to a release.

The free event will feature activities for the whole family, including four education stations throughout the bikeway. Attendees who visit all four stations will get an event T-shirt.

Other activities will include sampling switchel from Blom Meadworks, chalk art by David Zinn, cargo bike demos by Urban Riders, a mobile bike repair and new rider clinic pop-up hosted by Common Cycle, face painting and bike helmet fittings and giveaways by Safe Kids Huron Valley.

Participants can also see a City of Ann Arbor Public Works bikeway snow plow and enjoy activities presented by the Ann Arbor District Library, Washtenaw Bicycling & Walking Coalition, City of Ann Arbor Office of Sustainability & Innovation, the city’s Transportation Department and more.

The old Y Lot is located at 350 S. Fifth Ave.
