ANN ARBOR – Honor local veterans and military members on Friday during Veterans Day.
Observed annually on November 11, the federal holiday honors the men and women who serve and who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
It was first noted in 1919 and was initially celebrated as Armistice Day to commemorate the ending of WWI. In 1954, the holiday was changed by President Dwight D. Eisenhower to Veterans Day in order to honor service members in all wars.
