Concordia University Ann Arbor program receives $1.48M rural health care federal grant
The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded Concordiaโs physicianโs assistant studies program a $1.48 million grant over five years to support students who opt to participate in rural clinical experiences.
Two Concordia University Ann Arbor music ensembles named national semi-finalists
ANN ARBOR โ The CUAA music department now boasts not one, but two groups named national semi-finalists in the American Prize competition in the classical arts. The CUAA Community Orchestra and CUAA Wind Ensemble have each received this high honor for recorded performances they submitted for the 2021 competition. The CUAA Community Orchestra was awarded in the Community division of the Orchestral Performance category for its November 2019 performance in the Chapel of the Holy Trinity. This ensemble includes not just music students from the CUAA campus, but also dual-enrollment students, CUAA music faculty, community members, and even a few professionals to round things out. Concordia University Ann Arbor names new Quantitative Business Chair
Gray stepped into her roles as Chair of Quantitative Business and Assistant Professor of Accounting at the start of this year. As department chair, Gray heads up all of Concordia Universityโs accounting, finance, economics, data analytics, and actuarial science programs. She is the only department chair within the School of Business who is based on the Ann Arbor campus. Her dissertation focuses on professional skepticism and emotional intelligence in accounting students and practicing auditors. Originally a Concordia, Portland student, Gray joined the 150 EdD candidates who transferred into CUWโs burgeoning program when the east-coast Concordia announced its closure in January 2020.

Concordia University Ann Arbor renames its nursing school after local donors
ANN ARBOR โ Ronald and Marvel Jones are no strangers to CUAA. In 2018 the couple made their first transformational gift to the university after touring the School of Nursing and meeting with Assistant Vice President of Academics, Cindy Fenske, DNP. Fenske is looking to incorporate augmented reality (AR) into the current simulations used by the nursing students. Dr. Ryan Peterson, vice president of administration, renaming the School of Nursing reflects the commitment and generosity of the Joneses. Concordia University Ann Arbor undergraduate enrollment at all-time high amidst COVID
ANN ARBOR โ Fall 2020 census data is in, and this year, Concordia University Ann Arbor not only bucked the downward undergraduate enrollment trend of colleges and universities nationwide, the campus notched yet another record-breaking year on multiple fronts. CUAA hit record-high totals for its undergraduate enrollment and incoming freshmen class size. Since the merge, CUAA has seen a 75 percent increase in total undergraduate enrollment. Undergraduate enrollment data from CUAA in 2019 and 2020. This yearโs total enrollment at CUAA is 1,173, down just 1 percent from last year due to a slight dip in graduate enrollment.
Concordia University Ann Arborโs School of Nursing innovates virtual learning during pandemic
ANN ARBOR โ For the past 12-18 months, Concordia University Ann Arborโs School of Nursing has been working on the development of enhanced virtual learning for their students. One of those enhancements being the mobile camera unit. Mobile Camera UnitThe mobile camera unit is comprised of three cameras simultaneously directed at a patient that provides viewpoints from the ceiling, front, back, and sides of the room. Mobile camera unit platform used by CUAA nursing staff - allowing students to choose the camera angle that fits their learning needs. Within the next few months, the SON also plans to start embedding information from the mobile camera unit into AR & VR headsets.
Concordia University students in Ann Arbor plant flags for 9/11 tribute
ANN ARBOR, Mich. โ While traveling on Geddes Road today you may have seen hundreds of flags as you neared Concordia University. Students at the Ann Arbor university have placed flags around the roundabout connecting Earhart and Geddes roads to commemorate the anniversary of 9/11. Concordia student volunteers placed the flags along Geddes Rd., Thursday evening Sept. 10, 2020.
