At 111 W. Liberty St., the cafe is the second location operated by Hyperion Coffee Co. -- an Ypsilanti-based coffee roaster specializing in ethically sourced, single-origin coffee.

Started in 2015 as a coffee roastery in Ypsilanti, Hyperion partners with small farms and producers in different parts of the world, including Colombia, Costa Rica, Honduras and Guatemala, to make delicious coffee and espresso.

Its roastery eventually added a cafe, and the company expanded into downtown Ann Arbor in 2021. It’s Liberty St. location offers a variety of drinks, baked goods, beans, brewing equipment and space for conversation.

The company’s Facebook page states, “We believe every coffee has a story that needs to be told. We would be honored to tell them to you.”

Stories from Hyperion’s partnering micro lots and generational coffee farms are on its website, along with brewing tips and blog posts. It also has a service department, which offers preventative maintenance and repairs for commercial espresso machines and equipment.

And each new blend from Hyperion comes with a cool name -- like Prometheus or Krampus -- and a direct connection to the producers.

Find Hyperion coffees at its Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti cafes, online through its website, or at local grocers, like Argus Farm Stop.
