WARREN, Mich. – The superintendent of Warren Consolidated Schools responded after a district teacher was arrested and police allegedly found sexually explicit videos involving minors on his cellphone.

Prosecutors say they arrested Mark Sharrow Tuesday (Aug. 18) as part of an investigation.

Police also searched his home and cellphone.

Sharrow was given a $1 million bond and is scheduled to return to court Sept. 1.

Warren Consolidated Schools Superintendent John C. Bernia Jr. addressed the arrest in a letter to parents.

The district confirmed Bernia is its superintendent.

“The employee was on administrative leave from the district,” Bernia said in the letter. “As always, we cooperate fully and work closely with law enforcement.”

Bernia also thanked students who came forward with information.

“I want to thank the young people who reported difficult information to members of our staff,” he said.

The investigation remains ongoing.
