Coats recalled due to strangulation hazard

Parents across the country should be taking a closer look at their children's winter coats, especially if they were purchased at Burlington Coat Factory between 2010 and 2013.

The jackets have a drawstring hood that is a strangulation hazard to children. No injuries have been reported,

Children should stop wearing the coats immediately. Owners can seek a full refund from Burlington Coat Factory or remove the drawstring from the hood to eliminate the hazard.

Recall Details

The first recalled item is a Lion Force boys' black hooded coat with dark gray drawstrings around the hood. The outer shell is 100% nylon with a zip-off hood piece and elastic on the wrist cuffs and waist band. The coat has two front Velcro-flap pockets, as well as inner pockets. The words "Lion Force" are printed on the upper left side of the coat and on the interior neck tag.

The recall involves coats sized 4 through 12 sold nationwide at Burlington Coat Factory between November 2010 and September 2013. Each coat was approximately $30. Around 2,400 were sold.

Girls' Coats Recalled

The second recalled item includes three styles of Runway Global girls' Sugarfly brand jackets. They have drawstring hoods and are made of woven cotton and woven polyester. Here are the style numbers (located on the back of the sewn-in neck label) and descriptions:

Style number KMCBJ255: olive in color, zipper closure, four front pockets with buttons, two zipper pockets

Style number KMCBJ410: white in color, belted, double-breasted, French coat style, faux fur around the neck

Style number KMCBJ421: fuchsia or purple in color, button closure, snap button pockets on each side

The recall involves girls' jackets sized 7 through 16 sold nationwide at Burlington Coat Factory and online at Burlingcoatfactory.com between September 2011 and September 2013. Each jacket was approximately $40. Around 820 were sold.
