“It’s just been years of hard work, consistency, and not giving up on my dreams, no matter what’s been going on in my life,” said Diamond. “I just felt like now was the perfect time for me to be able to put on my own event because I’m coming off of the show. I’m coming off of my project that I dropped earlier this year, and it’s called ‘Rookie of the Year.’ So we just keeping the ‘Rookie of the Year’ going for the entire year.
Born and raised on the west side of Detroit, Diamond endured a long and challenging journey as an independent artist to garner the attention and skills necessary to be invited to season two of Netflix’s “Rhythm and Flow” series.
She credits her faith for her perseverance through various obstacles.
“I’ve been told no a million times,” said Diamond. “I lost a team of people. I lost friends, family, and just different things of that nature, being homeless, staying in my car. It was so much that I went through from 2018 up until 2025 now. And to not give up and fold during that process, all I can say is, it’s just God. It’s God and my angels that I have every time that’s aligning me where I need to be.”
Diamond went from an unknown artist to performing in front of hip-hop icons like Big Sean, DJ Khaled and Ludacris on a TV show with millions of viewers.
Diamond held her own in the competition and made a name for herself, finishing in fourth place among the finalists.
Since her appearance on “Rhythm and Flow,” Diamond released her “Rookie of the Year” EP in January 2025.
Diamond received the invitation to compete on the show while living in Los Angeles, California, which helped her gain national attention, despite sporting “Detroit” in her stage name.
Now that she has made a name for herself, she wants to represent her newfound stardom in her hometown.
“It’s amazing, I feel like this is what we do it for,” said Diamond on performing in her hometown. “You want to represent for your hometown and your city. You want them to love you and embrace you first before the rest of the world.”
Diamond continued:
“Sometimes you have to go somewhere else and get discovered, and then your city gets behind you, which is kind of honestly what happened for me, because I moved to LA and then I got on the show. And then after I got on the show, the entire city and everybody has been behind me up until then. So I’m just taking it all in and embracing it, and I just can’t wait to put on a great show for everybody.”
Diamond is set to perform 31 songs, featuring showings from other artists as well. Concertgoers are urged to wear jerseys or clothes with diamonds on them.
“I wanted it to feel like a 2000s backyard party,” said Diamond. “Everybody come in jerseys or diamond ‘blinged’ out clothes or whatever, and just have a good time.”
Tickets for the concert starting at $20.40 are available on Dice FM’s website.
