U of M soccer player makes a difference one goal at a time

Free open soccer camp starts in June

University of Michigan senior and soccer player Emily Eitzman has been an avid athlete her entire life. Her love for soccer goes deep, but her love for helping others goes even deeper. So, after realizing there were no organized amputee soccer leagues in the area, she decided to start one.

With the help and backing of the university she started holding soccer clinics for those with limb differences, or anyone who wanted to join in. “As Director of Collegiate Development for the United States Amputee Football Association, it’s a mission of mine just to help increase opportunities across the county,” Eitzman said.

She said her end goal is to have amputee soccer as an official sport under the adaptive sports and fitness programs at U of M. For now she will hold open soccer clinics for anyone who would like to join in on the fun, starting early June.
