The independent film “Anora” won big at the Oscars Sunday night, but the excitement also went beyond the trophies to the fashion on the red carpet.
To weigh in on the best and worst when it comes to Hollywood style, “Live In The D” host Tati Amare and guest host Blaine Fowler were joined in studio by Local 4 Style Editor Jon Jordan, along with AJ Williams, the Managing Editor of The Michigan Chronicle. Viewers were also asked to join the conversation online by rating the ensembles worn by various celebrities.
First up, the group chatted about actress Cynthia Erivo’s Oscars ensemble. The “Wicked” star lived up to her character Elphaba’s style with an emerald green gown by Louis Vuitton. Both Jon and AJ agreed Erivo was one of the best dressed of the night. The “Live In The D” audience gave her an average rating of 6 out of 10.
Fellow “Wicked” star Ariana Grande wore a Glinda-inspired Schiaparelli ballgown. The “Live In The D” audience also gave Grande a rating of 6.
One of AJ’s favorite looks of the night was worn by Demi Moore who took the red carpet in a custom Armani Privé gown. “I think it highlighted her as a more seasoned veteran actress, and she’s gorgeous,” AJ said.
Jon said that actress Selena Gomez was “flawless” in a Ralph Lauren dress and Bulgari jewelry.
Halle Berry grabbed attention in a Christian Siriano gown with thousands of beads. Meanwhile, Whoopi Goldberg wore a different look by Christian Siriano. AJ was not a fan of Goldberg’s ensemble. However, Jon said her look was “really well executed.”
When it comes to men’s fashion, Timothée Chalamet wore a buttery yellow Givenchy suit, which Jon didn’t think was flattering. Jeff Goldblum took to the red carpet in Prada.
