Detroit musician is singing the Blues, with a twist

Detroit-based blues singer RJ Silver is gaining attention with a sound that’s rich in soul and storytelling. He blends classic blues influences with a fresh, personal perspective.

Silver stopped by “Live in the D,” to share a special performance, and talk about his musical journey. “I grew up listening to the music of the time, kind of like Alternative Rock, then I would go back a decade or two and figure out who they listened to,” Silver said.

He said he would then research even more - and that brought him to The Delta Blues, and the Grand Fathers of the Blues. He said when it comes to his music, he gets inspiration everywhere. He performed his song “Blues From a Lifetime Ago,” on “Live In The D.”
