Would you attend a wedding without a plus one?

Friends of “Live In The D” weigh in

Opening a wedding invitation is a moment of excitement, but there can also be disappointment if you don’t get a “plus one” on your invitation. So, what’s fair and what’s not when it comes to plus ones?

Friends of “Live In The D” appeared on the show to talk with host Tati Amare and guest host Jennyfer Crawford-Williams about wedding invitations and plus ones. The conversation included Shea Hicks-Whitfield from HGTV‘s “Bargain Block” who is planning her own wedding vow renewal, along with April “AP” Lockett who is the host of “The AP Show,” and Sheree Calhoun who is a content producer at Local 4 and also a wedding planner.

“If my friend invited me, I wouldn’t even dare ask for a plus one because if they wanted me to bring a plus, they would have said ‘Shea plus guest’”, Shea said.

Sheree agreed, saying that she’s fine attending a wedding by herself.

“Being a wedding planner, I understand that it’s expensive,” Sheree said.

AP shared that she thinks your spouse should be an automatic plus one.

Tati asked the group what they think is the proper etiquette for a “plus one” invitation.

“I usually consult brides that it’s okay for you to have rules, and if that’s something that you want to do -- sorry that you’re disappointing them, but just go with you feel in your heart you need to do because it’s expensive,” Sheree said.
