Local 4 and Carhartt are recognizing a Ford retiree and pancreatic cancer survivor as the recipient of August’s Ace of Trades award, which celebrates local trade workers who excel in their field and lead by example.
Martin Maiuri worked at Ford for decades and learned the knowledge of the trades. Now, he’s using his knowledge of the trades to do general handy work for others who need a little help.
Maiuri was nominated for the Ace of Trades recognition by his friend, Sherry Smith.
Here’s what she wrote in the nomination:
“As a stage 4 pancreatic cancer survivor for over 5-plus years, he continues to motivate cancer patients with his unending faith and work for others. He swears working hard physically along with faith in God has saved him - and he does whatever he can to help others emotionally, and physically by chores and small jobs at a minimal price, sometimes free, just because he has a big heart and believes that’s why he was saved. He is one of my best friends now and helps my mom, and our friends and family.”
