Police in Monroe County are investigating a Friday morning bank robbery

Suspect demanded money from teller at Monroe Bank & Trust

MONROE COUNTY, Mich. – The Monroe County Sheriff's department is investigating a Friday morning bank robbery.

What police say happened

It happened at approximately 9:38am, Monroe County Deputy Sheriffs were dispatched to the Monroe Bank & Trust, located at 1204 N. Monroe Street, Frenchtown Township.

Police said the suspect entered the bank, produced a note which he handed to a teller demanding cash. The suspect obtained an undetermined amount of cash and fled the bank, last seen running southbound from the location. No weapon was seen or implied by the suspect.

The investigation

Monroe County Deputy Sheriffs including K-9 and aviation unit, Michigan State Police Troopers -Monroe Post, and officers from the Monroe City Police Department converged on the area. The K-9 tracked to a nearby residential area and is believed the suspect got into an unknown vehicle which had been parked a short distance from the bank as the track was unsuccessful.
